During Abdominoplasty Surgery

After all, the essential exams regarding the operation have been passed. The doctors prepare you for the operation. The abdominoplasty surgery takes around 2 to 4 hours depending on the technique suited to your case, which are full abdominoplasty and mini abdominoplasty.

Complete abdominoplasty:   for patients who suffer from a significant amount of loose skin.

Mini Abdominoplasty:   less sagging and little excess fat.

After the application of general anesthesia, eight to ten centimeter incisions will be opened below the abdominal navel and above the pubic region in a horizontal shape. You will be given antibiotics to prevent infection.   The scars resulting from abdominal surgery are in the same lines as the natural bikini line and they will disappear over time.

NOTE: Other surgeries like breast augmentation/reduction and liposuction can be done after the tummy tuck.

After Abdominoplasty Surgery

Post-operative care is an important factor in ensuring the best results, so here are some guidelines to consider:

  • You will receive a medical corset that you must use within the time limits indicated by the doctors.

  • Bath time must be approved by doctors.

  • Intense laughing, sneezing and coughing should be avoided during the first week of the operation for quick recovery of the stitches.

  • You should avoid sunlight after the operation.

  • You should take medicines prescribed by doctors at regular and specified times.

  • Intense sporting activities should be avoided during the first month of the operation.

  • Smoking and alcohol should be avoided.

  • You will return to normal life after 2 to 4 weeks of operation

NOTE: Some patients may experience little pain or swelling in the abdomen area after surgery and this is natural and you will be given painkillers.
